Sources, signals and coverage limits

2027 General Surgery has 15 signals. Categorical and prelim tracks at the same institution within the specialty see the same signal; applications remain separate. Confirm each program's participation and dual-track application rules. No new signal budget is created for prelims.

Coverage is the active NRMP categorical directory, not a completed national DO or eligibility audit. Programs without prelim tracks remain included. Unverified values remain in the review pool. Saved Ortho and prelim plans are unchanged.

Why Auditions Matter

For Ortho: Audition rotations are essentially required. A strong Sub-I at a program dramatically increases your interview and match chances. Plan 3-5 aways.

For OBGYN: Away rotations help but aren't as critical. 2-3 strategic aways at target programs/regions work well.

For Couples: Try to audition in the SAME CITY when possible - this shows programs you're serious about their location!
